The Problem with Beta Software

I was given a sort of techno swag bag when I got the grant for the Being & Nothingness Cam Project with a software program which I think is unlikely to get out of the Beta stage. In this case Beta means let-some-suckers-use-it-for-free-so-we-can-make-them-cry. It’s supposed to sort through the previous week's blog postings, decide which are the most important or amusing and post a story update in my writing style. This is too much to ask?

So this morning: no story summary and this odd 11:09 PM posting from Tom on Saturday night which I’m guessing is a note on why he abandoned his B&N Cam monitoring. Well, Tom’s either a very “hands off” father or he’s psychic. Either he was dealing with his teenage daughter coming home at 3 AM Saturday at 11:09 PM on Saturday or he’s getting ready to be worried sick and angry at his front door when she comes in at 3 AM Sunday.

And there's the issue of him, like Phaye last week, just posting stuff without any kind of consultation with me.

I was going to be pissy about the software being poorly designed, but then I looked up “sentient” and found that it had more to do with being conscious, aware, and informed than meeting deadlines or being conscientious.

To the designers of “Self-Aware and Lovin’ It” software: I’m not impressed.
