I'm Glad This Is Working Out

I looked at the blog this evening and saw Sia's post. I've told all members of the Being & Nothingness Cam Team that they are not supposed to be posting anything. I told them that they had to do what I asked. So they post stuff and they don't do what I ask.

I hired people who studied philosophy. They have a toehold into mankind’s vast, ongoing search to understand the tentative, shifting nature of existence. They are strong, independent-minded people who studied something that they knew would get them nowhere.

That would mean, therefore, that they weren’t particularly employable, that no one would listen to them who wasn’t another student of philosophy, that they have a penchant for isolation and that they have a poor grasp on everyday reality.

So I hired them to look at monitors all day, put them in a dim(ish) room with other philosophers, and gave them coffee and berets.

Write “sucker” on my forehead with a Sharpie.

  1. Gee, you make it sound like the berets were part of their benefit package, while they clearly were intended as punishment...
Being of a techno bend, what I want to know is WHY all we get to see are carefully filtered views of the reality that might or might not be captured by the B&N cams. Comeon, they are web-cams. Shouldn't there be live feeds so that we can make our own interpretations? Surely Dirk can figure out how to do that? Give the guy a challenge and see if he steps up to it.

  2. Ok I admit I have not read your blog yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
